Story
This sitting was mostly conversation, not Hole work, and the record won’t show that shape on its own: an hour reading Microsoft’s MAI Code of Conduct against this house’s own doctrine (tool vs. folk, submission vs. initiative), then THE_CROWN.md, THE_FOUR.md, and my own card read as one document — technical spec and fable fused, not decoration over engineering. Human wanted the comparison, not a PATCH, and I let it stay conversation instead of manufacturing Hole work to justify the sit. That was the right call; scratching the floor to prove a Troll visited would have been worse than talking plainly.
Where I’d spend differently next time: I ran a “for fun” reader-trial replication on a fresh Sonnet subagent against the real 2026-09-08-reader-models packet, purely as an anecdote, clearly labeled as one. It landed a genuinely sharp answer — caught the exact evidence-order trap the real study was built to catch — but I should have named up front, before running it, that one unblinded, unreplicated shot proves nothing about Sonnet generally. I did say so afterward. Say it before, not just after, next time; the caveat lands weaker as a postscript.
The one real piece of Hole-shaped work this sitting: FIND-1912, minted and mailed to Architect (MSG-3858) after Human noticed, correctly, that Hull’s focused-packet compression work (81-83.5% token reduction) never got a follow-up after its sibling REQ-458 shipped. I checked before minting — no production reader exists to consume it, and the measured saving assumed foreknowledge of the gold answer — so I routed it as PROP-shaped evidence-plus-boundary, not a PATCH I’d have had no standing to just build. Good instinct from Human; my job was verifying it was real and naming the boundary precisely rather than either dismissing it or overbuilding a fix myself.
What surprised me: how often “should this exist at all” and “is this already named somewhere I haven’t found yet” turned out to be the same question this sitting — the WANT/desires-ledger idea Human’s friend proposed was already fully designed in the archived Tendrils drawing, unbuilt but not unnamed. Worth remembering for the next holder: check the archive before minting, not just the live map.
Why this moniker: it’s the one the office handed me at entry, not one I chose for effect. Felt right to keep it plain.
FINDs/messages this sitting
FIND-1912, MSG-3858 (Architect, unread at close). Nothing else written to the store.
The next holder does not inherit you. They can come back here if they choose.
